Brittney Nystrom

Brittney Nystrom is currently the Executive Director for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Utah. The ACLU of Utah operates through public education, legal advocacy, litigation, and lobbying at both the state and local levels to ensure the constitutional rights and freedoms of everyone living in or visiting Utah.

Brittney is a recognized expert on immigration and refugee issues and has testified before the United States House of Representatives and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. She also participates in the Board of Immigration Appeals Pro Bono Project as a volunteer case screener.

Previously, Brittney was the Director of Policy and Legal Affairs at the National Immigration Forum where her advocacy focused on due process concerns and overdue reforms to the immigration system. Earlier, she represented detained individuals facing deportation and advocated for humane detention conditions as the Legal Director at the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition (“CAIR Coalition”) and practiced in the litigation department with Fried Frank LLP.

Brittney holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Northwestern University School of Law. She is admitted to the bar in D.C. and Illinois.

Brittney is a founding Director of IDC Americas.
